WW2 Bolt Action Terrain

I have been working on some terrain I can use for WW2 gaming, mainly Bolt Action.  I love the idea of Operation Sea Lion so am sorting out Terrain for my Brits to face up against the Germans.

Fist up is updating my polystyrene tiles from TSS.  They were rather bland being all the same colour so have added more flock which I think is a great improvement.

Next up I have got some MDF kits but I have never been very happy with them after painting and can't afford the pre painted types.  So I decided to clad them in Noch sheets.  My first test was a church with has turned out quite well.

Next up is my WIP on a row of terrace houses.

Still along way to go and have learned quite a lot from doing this so can hopefully make it easier with the next one.

Finally got my Beach Board finished.  I shall make up some scatter terrain for it as well

Bolt Action Jungle Terrain Part 3 Base Boards

This is the start of 4 Terrain boards for Jungle Terrain in Bolt Action.

The first three boards are land based. One will have a road, one paths and one a hill/bunker.  The last one will be a beach landing terrain.

I have base the basic structure for the three boards and started to work on the Hill.

Top part is separate so I can put models in the bunker.

Making the hill modular so I can just use the top part with out the bunker part.  

Sorting out some cork and plaster rock to add some texture to the hill

Bolt Action Jungle Terrain Part 2

Slowly making some progress on the smaller terrain pieces.  Using plastic plants from China and mixed herbs for leaf litter. Still need to add some flock, static grass and take the shine of the plants

I have also been getting stuff together to make some terrain boards.  The plan is to make 3 terrain boards so far. One to be a Hill/mountain area, second to have a road and jungle area, third to have a beach area.

Bolt Action Jungle Terrain

To go with my Japanese, Chindits and USMC I have started work on some jungle terrain. Generally following the Terrain Tutors Burma Build on youtube.  I am using what materials I have. The bases are hardboard cut into different sizes and shapes.  I then cut up and glue on a polystyrene ceiling tile, put filler in the gaps and round the edges to smooth it out.  Glue on sand and small rocks for texture. Finally undercoating in bitter chocolate masonry paint.  Still lots to do

Bolt Action Terrain

Bolt Action is one of the projects that I keep thinking about but never get round to.  Well after sorting through all the stuff I have I am starting to give it a go.  I am getting seem stuff to come to make Jungle terrain but first up I though I should built two houses I got ages ago from Stonk Games.  They went together quite well, there were a few mistakes how they had been cut but for the price they look very good.  I have the Farm Hovel and Ruined Farm Hovel

All Quiet on the Martian Front - North African Terrain

To go with my Flames of War desert buildings I have started making some terrain for my North African games.  Nearly done just need to work out the right washes.

After finishing glueing down the pavements I moved on to texture the barren areas.  I painted them with a mix of fine sand, PVA, water and powder filler.  I didn't want it to be too uneven as I plane to change what buildings I use on the board depending on the game but I wanted it to look ok bare.

Once that had dried I gave it a coat of brown and grey for the roads.

City Board for All Quiet on the Martian Front

Working on a city board for the All Quiet on the Martian Front game.  The roads are being made with mounting card then I will use the 4Ground cobbled street stencil and render on top.  I am not going to fix the buildings so I can put on different types

Roads rendered and now starting on the pavements using more mounting card and plastic sheet.

Dry brushed the roof and started to paint the wood that is showing.   Window is in.
