Army of Harad Part 5

I have now finished the Harad Troopers. I noticed I had missed some gems on the last lots armour which I have now painted.  Some of these are also to go onto a Mumak. I have some command to do them on to the next lot

I have managed to sort out what colours I want the Far Harad troops and painted 3 with lots more on the painting table

I have also finished adding the bit I wanted to the Mumakil ready to be undercoated

Imperial Guard

I do love the old Imperial Guard figures. I have a large Tallarn army still progressing as well as some old Cadians , Praetorian and Catachan Jungle Fighters.  With GW made to order the other month I have also ordered some Mordian Iron Guard and Valhallan Ice Warriors.  Still need to get some Armageddon Steel legion and possibly some Vostroyans.

So I have decided its time to paint up some more of my Imperial Guard lounging around in boxes and blisters

First up some more Praetorian Guard.

Army of Harad part 4

I have got one really well with the Haradrim Raiders and now have all 54 of the plastic ones painted up.  I still have the Serpent Riders and Chieftains to paint but will paint some foot soldiers first.

Olleys Armies Mutant Squat Vehicle

Going through my box of Olleys Armies, which I must stop hoarding and start painting, I found this vehicle conversion by Bob Olley which I thought I should share

I would love to get some of the Mutant Scrunts, Bio Chambers and Jet Bikes which I hope the new owner LUPUS in Australia will release again at some point.

Army of Harad part 3

Just a quick update that I have now painted 39 Raiders so more than half way for those.

Mumak Oliphaunt - Mithril Miniatures

Finally got round to painting the Mithril Miniatures Mumak, a lot smaller then the GW one but would still look good in a battle.  I have two others to paint up at some point.  The advantage of them being smaller is they don't take up as much gaming space.

Size comparison with the GW one

Looks fine with the Harad Raiders

Derek the Troll

My copy of the Derek the Troll comic came today, it contains the old Derek the Troll stories.  It also includes Rock Solid Space Hero and Combat Colin.  I loved Derek the Troll in Warlock and White Dwarf, hopefully if he sells enough maybe he will do an all new Derek the Troll comic.

You can buy it here http://www.lewstringer.com/

Army of Harad Part 2

Getting on quite well with painting the Haradrim raiders and now have 30 painted.

I have also started to modify two Mumaks.  I already have one painted but want the other two to have their heads in a different position.

ArcWorlde Hobgoblins

Got my small band of Hobgoblins finished.  I do have to finish off the mounted hero I forgot I had

The Green Alliance - WWII SciFi Orcs

Finally got my pledge from the Green Alliance kickstarter. I have to say that the casting on the miniatures is excellent.  The Jeep which is the only vehicle I bought is outstanding and now I wish I had bought more.  Anyway onto the pictures

Orc Hero

One thing I would note is that I find the hero over large compared to the normal orcs, as you can see from this pic. Kind of makes me think of GW.

Onto the Goblins

The Orcs

Orc Heads

Freebies

And Finally the awesome Jeep

Tau Barracuda

Finally got my Tau Barracuda finished for my Taros Campaign.  Still have one more to paint along with two Tiger Sharks.  Definitely a long term project.  I managed to speed up the painting by using a Model Mates Sand Brown weathering dye which has given it the finish I wanted.

Army of Harad

Over on the Lead Adventure Forum they have an Army Painter 2016 even.  Which for people that sign up means they need to paint a unit of figures each month for six months and have an army at the end of it. I need the army for my long term project of the Siege of Minas Tirith so will give me the motivation to get it done.

The army to consist of

Suladan on Horse
55 Haradrim Raiders
5 Mounted Serpent Guards
35 Haradrim Warriors (Inc command and probably some Serpent Guard on foot)
2 Mumakil (I need 3 for my siege project but I have one already painted)
25 Far Harad Warriors

Sorted out the figures

Have started building the Raiders, just need to decide whether to paint the horses separately or not.

Dol Amroth Men at Arms - Mithril Miniatures

I have had these since they came out but has taken me ages to get them finished.  Keep getting distracted.  Next up (within 5 years) will be the mounted ones.

Dominator Tripod from All Quiet on the Martian Front

Got my dominator today fast shipping to the UK

I have queried the fact that the heat ray arms are both the same from the plastic sprue. It seems to make more sense to have one left handed one in resin which curves the other way. Got a fast response from Ironclad Games The kit with the arms is how AD made them so you have to modify and arm. Should be too hard and I will post pics when I do it. All I can say is Ironclad Games provide a much better service than AD

Here you can see the two heat ray arms

First I cut off the Heat Ray from one arm

Then I test fit the arms on the head. Stuck with blue tack

Then a put a pin in the heat ray

Then glue it to the arm.  Seems to work ok and should be some wiggle room when attaching the arms to the head

At the moment still trying to de shine the dominator head so it can be painted as its very glossy. So far its had three scrubs in hot water and soap, a scrub with dettol, dishwasher cycle and its still shiney! I have put it in a bath of dettol for 48 hours to see if that works.

Finally got some paint on it but had to use several coats of Valejo surface primer to cover the head as it kept running off.

Next to a Veteran Tripod
